John Crane3 (Azariah2, Jasper1) m. 1st, Abigail about 1717. She was b. 1700 she d. June
25,1744. m. 2d, Rebecca. He d. Sept. 5, 1776, aged 81.
He lived on the east side of Broad Street, on a part of the home
lot inherited by his mother from her father Robert Treat; was a
very active and influential man in the town. He was chosen in 1740
recorder for strays as well as assessor of taxes. These duties he
performed many years; also serving on many important town
committees, such as looking after the parsonage, collecting for
the parsonage and burying-ground, etc.; a freeholder 1757. Obadiah
and Jonas were children by second wife.
