John George Bolen was an engraver, printer, inventor, gunsmith and marketeer. He  owned an engraving, printing and firearms shop at 104 Broadway and was a major distributor of Ethan Allen Patent Revolvers. He was granted a patent for a Burglar Alarm. The Bolen Store was across the street from Trinity Church and around the corner from The Hazard Powder Company on 63 Pine Street.

The directory stated that John G. Bolen lived on State Street in Brooklyn.

Apparently, after the death of Catherine in 1882, he married Agnes S. Boyd who also died in 1888, her grave in Green-Wood Cemetery.

See J.G. Bolen, 104 Broadway for additional information.
