Family history states that, following the Panic of 1893, Mitchell Fraser’s N.Y. insurance company went bankrupt. He
bought a farm in Somerville, N.J., and moved there with his family of
one son and six daughters. Emma was not happy being a farmer’s wife and
his son and some of the daughters were also not happy with farming.
